To maintain the natural qualities and performance of Geelhout Upholstery Leather, hides should always be worked under controlled conditions:
Humidity:
Maintain an internal hide humidity of 10–12%.
Temperature: Keep process temperatures below 60 °C to prevent changes in mechanical properties and appearance.
Storage Before Processing: Store hides flat in a dry environment at 15–40 °C. Avoid placing heavy weights on hides.
Handling: Do not use shrink wrapping, heat guns, or any other high-heat methods, as these may weaken the leather or affect its finish.
Chemical Compatibility: If additional treatments are applied, confirm that chemicals are compatible with the leather to preserve REACH conformity and finish adhesion
Proper care extends the life and appearance of your Geelhout leather upholstery:
Environment:
Keep leather away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fading or darkening.
Cleaning Products: Use only recommended leather cleaners and protectors. Avoid solvents or multi-purpose cleaning agents, which can damage the finish.
Routine Care: Domestic furniture: clean and re-protect at least every six months. Contract furniture: follow a regular cleaning programme according to use.
Spot Cleaning: For liquid spills, blot immediately with absorbent paper – avoid rubbing. Wipe gently with a damp white cloth from the outer edge toward the centre of the stain. Once dry, polish lightly with a soft, dry cloth.
General Handling: Natural features such as scars, growth marks, or slight structure differences are part of the leather’s authenticity and do not reduce its quality.
